DAM SAFETY SERVICES
GeoCiv provides Emergency Action Plans (EAP), Dam Inspections, and O&M Plans for Alabama and Southern US States.
An Emergency Action Plan (EAP) outlines who to contact, what to do, and where flooding could occur if an emergency happens. GeoCiv prepares EAPs that meet state requirements and help you understand the plan and your responsibilities.
A dam inspection provides a picture of your dam’s current condition. Items that need attention, and what should be monitored over time. We document our findings in a written report with practical recommendations so you can prioritize next steps and plan with confidence.
Many owners learn their dam has a hazard classification (hazard rating) and have questions about what it means. We evaluate whether a reclassification request is supportable. GeoCiv uses breach modeling and flood mapping to document what’s actually downstream. We also review spillway capacity and outline what may be needed to meet state standards for your dam’s classification.
If you see signs of movement, seepage, cracking, or erosion, or a regulator has raised concerns about structural stability, we can help you understand what may be happening and what it means. When needed, we coordinate subsurface information with drilling contractors and provide practical recommendations for monitoring, repairs, or next-step engineering.
An Operation & Maintenance (O&M) plan is a practical, written guide for caring for your dam year after year—what to inspect, how often, and what to do if conditions change. It’s especially useful for HOAs, property managers, and owners who want continuity and clarity across board or ownership transitions.
We also assist with the following services. If you have a project outside our core services, contact us to discuss your needs.
- Site investigations and subsurface coordination
- Construction submittal review and contractor support
- Dam decommissioning design
- Dam repair and rehabilitation design
